My notebook received another upgrade in form of a brand new SSD. To be more specific, the Samsung 830 256 GB model. This is supposedly one of the higher-end SSDs, boasting read speeds of 520 MB/s and write speeds of 400 MB/s. Sadly, my laptop features only SATA II and is thus limited to a maximum of 300 MB/s.
A fresh Windows 7 was installed in just under 5 minutes (installed over the network). Time to desktop was 10 minutes and installing all updates took half a century, or about 1 hour.
Fedora 17 installed within 30 minutes including all updates.
